{community service enrollment for new immigrants}
{Brief introduction to background}
People move to a new place from time to time. They want to contribute to their local community but usually found it difficult to search for a suitable event to help with. We are here to build a platform for those new comers to look for and participate in the local community service without difficulties
{What is the challenge?}
Most of the time the community service are scattered and there are not central hub for distributing the information. A central hub would be a great idea for those immigrants to look for something to help with without searching around. Moreover, language barrier could be another hindering factors making those immigrants stop from serving the local community.

#the process
A proper design system is the key to success for any projects. This project follows the following design process.
User research
After research on a few current users of other platforms, we found that there is not a centralised community service platform for the community to search and participate in a community service. Those service is scattered on the internet and mostly rely on ads posting in supermarket.
We are dedicated to provide a new platform so the new immigrants can serve their community easily.
User pain points
Persona and problem statement
After doing a user research with the current new immigrants, we developed a aggregated persona and problem statement derived from there.
Ideation and information architecture
We first start the ideation process with crazy 8 which is my favourite ideation process, it is wonderful as coming up different ideas with little time. Following shows the sketch I come up with together with the structured sitemap.
Wireframs
Based on the chosen sketch, we started to proceed to paper wireframes and then to digital wireframes. It was then followed bny a Lo-Fi prototype before conducting our first usability studies.
Assessibility
As this apps is targeted for new immigrants to participate in local community service, there are quite some assessibility concern. Based on the research we did before, many of the users maybe elderly which do not familiar with technology. And quite a large number of them do need a bigger font size and difficulties using English as media. We focused on these two major pain points and put a call to action button front and obvious on every pages so to ease out their worries.
Although this is a mockup exercise, this whole new way for community service to be centralised in one place and which helps the first generation immigrants to participate in local community service more easily. This benefits both the immigrants as well as the local community. Throughout accessibility concern is adapted thus make it easier for immigrants.
